Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to what North Texas asks us most. If your question isn’t here, call our office or send the quote form and we’ll get you a real answer the same day.
01 Good to know
Are you a moving company?
Yes — SHWIX Movers is a fully licensed and insured Frisco, Texas moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crews, with Texas TxDMV registration and USDOT/MC authority. We are not a broker or matching service; the crew that loads your home is the crew that unloads it.
How does your flat-rate pricing actually work?
For local DFW moves you can go hourly — two movers and a truck at $175 an hour, three movers and a truck at $239 an hour, with the one-hour minimum waived — or take a flat rate that locks the whole job before we load. Local flat quotes open at $449 for a studio or one-bedroom. A $140 deposit holds your date and is credited straight to your final bill.
Do you really run your own trucks and crews?
We do. Our trucks carry our name, our movers wear SHWIX shirts, and a named crew chief runs every job. We never hand your move off to a third party or another carrier — that's the whole reason we exist.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Every move includes standard released-value protection at $0.60 per pound, and you can upgrade to full-value coverage if you'd rather not gamble on a damaged item. We carry our own cargo and liability insurance, with coverage up to $1,000,000 per shipment.
Can you handle a gated community or a corporate building that needs a certificate of insurance?
Yes. Shelby in our office handles COIs all the time for Starwood, Stonebriar, Legacy West towers, and other gated or managed properties. Send us the property's insurance requirements when you book and we'll have the certificate on file before move day.
Do you move into brand-new construction homes?
Constantly. A big share of our work is new-build move-ins to master-planned communities like Phillips Creek Ranch, Newman Village, Windsong Ranch, and Frisco Lakes. We pad floors and stair edges, protect fresh paint and trim, and work clean so your closing-day home stays that way.
What about Texas summers and spring storms — does weather affect my move?
We plan around it. Crews load at dawn through the 100°F-plus summers to beat the heat, watch the radar during spring hail and tornado season, and prep for the occasional winter ice storm. If severe weather forces a change, we'll talk it through with you and reschedule safely rather than push a crew into danger.
Do you do long-distance and interstate moves out of Frisco?
Yes — we run our own trucks from North Texas to Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Nashville, Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, among others. Jared leads our long-haul crews, and you get the same SHWIX team on both ends with a flat price for the route.
Can you pack for me, or do I need to box everything myself?
Whatever you want. We'll do a full pack, a fragile-only pack of just the kitchen and breakables, or nothing at all if you'd rather box it yourself. We can also drop supplies before move day. Packing is added to your flat quote so there's no surprise line item later.
How far ahead should I book?
Sooner is better, especially around month-end and closing-heavy weekends in DFW. Once you're ready, the $140 deposit locks your date and comes off the final bill. If you're on a tight transfer or closing timeline, call our office and we'll do our best to fit you in.
